Dr. Jonathan Greene is a board-certified cardiologist at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vermont. He believes the best heart care starts with the person in the exam room.
Dr. Greene earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, where he received the Zarren Award for Excellence in Clinical Cardiology. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and biology, cum laude, from New York University. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where he served as chief fellow. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. He has advanced training in cardiovascular imaging, including echocardiography, nuclear imaging, coronary CT scanning, and vascular studies.
Prevention is at the center of Dr. Greene’s practice. He gives patients clear, current information about the risks and benefits of each treatment option, then supports the choices they make about their own health. He reviews new cardiology research and guidelines every day and pairs that evidence with clinical experience to help patients make the right choice for them, which he calls “the art of medicine.”
His commitment to underserved communities began in college. He was part of a health team for a meningococcal vaccination program in rural Gambia and assisted in tuberculosis and leprosy clinics and at the Mother Teresa Home in India. Although he trained at major academic centers, he chose community practice because he wants to care for the community he lives in.
Dr. Greene lives in Waterbury with his wife and their two children. The family spends its free time hiking, running, snowshoeing, and skiing.
