A Vermont summertime tradition enters its 21st year this August with Gifford Health Care’s Last Mile, a two-day community fundraising event that brings together cyclists, runners, walkers, and motorcycle enthusiasts in support of patients and families facing end-of-life care. This year’s event takes place Friday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 15, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

Tessa Cone shares her story of support from the Last Mile Fund, which helps support Gifford patients with a terminal illness or end-of-life diagnosis. The fund also provides assistance and guidance to families as they navigate the challenges of end-of-life care.

With your support, this year’s Last Mile promises to be our most record-breaking and community-strengthening event yet. Two days of (fun!) fundraising activities include a bicycle ride, timed 5K run, walks, and motorcycle ride (how it all began!) in August. Funds raised help families and their loved ones who are at the end of life cover the costs of alternative therapies for pain management, transportation, family meals and portrait sessions, and granting unique wishes.
