J. Andrew Dreslin, MD

Dr. Dreslin, who sees patients at Gifford’s Berlin and Randolph locations, brings a personalized approach to patient care that is focused on education. “I like to get to know my patients, about their home life, and who they are. I also use a lot of educational items, to explain anatomy and thoroughly answer any questions a patient may have. I find providing education helps with patient outcomes. Additionally, because I find urology so interesting, I think that my enthusiasm for the things we talk about really comes through.”

Meghan Durfee, ATC

When working with high school and college athletes from our area, Meghan is an all-star. Meghan is a certified athletic trainer who has had the privilege of treating and working with various athletes and patients. She tries to incorporate strength, balance and pain-free movement into all treatments to allow a total return to functional and recreational activities. Meghan believes everyone should be able to return to their activity or sport of choice no matter what their age.

Diane Everett, PT

Diane Everett enjoys treating patients of all ages with a variety of diagnoses and helping her patients learn how to better help themselves through recovery.

“I strongly believe in meeting the patient where they are at and providing the best possible care I can to educate them. I strive to provide the level of care that they and their body can accept initially and progress from there.”

She loves to build strong relationships with her patients and works to create trust in the care that she provides through strong listening and teaching skills.

Warren Fenner, PA-C

As a certified physician assistant in the Emergency Department, Warren “Ren” Fenner provides care for patients of all ages with a variety of conditions.

Ren brings 12 years of experience as a physician assistant at Critical Access Hospitals like Gifford. His philosophy of care is collaborative. “Open lines of communication with patients is always important, including all facts to make decisions together,” he says. “Being kind and respectful is also always important.”

Ren’s ties to Gifford run deep—he was born here—and his relationships with members of our medical team brought him back.

Emilija O. Florance, MD

Dr. Florance sees patients of all ages, newborn to geriatric, and provides a wide range of care, from chronic disease management to women’s health. Her approach to care is based on developing a partnership with each patient. “I love connecting with patients, getting to know them and the community I serve,” she said. “I also enjoy the variety offered by practicing family medicine. Each day is different and rewarding, whether I am working with a diabetic patient or with an expectant mother.”

Lindsay Haupt, PT

As a physical therapist, Lindsay Haupt, DPT, enjoys the challenge of figuring out the underlying mechanical cause of her patient’s pain or functional mobility. Her goal with treatment is to provide tools that work within each patient’s unique lifestyle to allow them to not only heal and get better but stay better. She achieves this by educating patients on their underlying problems so they have a clear understanding of what is going on and how they can help themselves get better. It brings her extreme joy to see a patient who has been struggling with pain, functional limitations or incontinence come in with a smile and report they are feeling better.

As a mother of two, she is keenly aware of the guidance and education pregnant women are seeking both pre- and post-partum. Her goal is to offer women the chance to learn how to better recover following the life-changing event of childbirth.

Dr. Ryan Heney serves on the Primary Care team at Bethel Health Center and provides care to patients of all ages. Dr. Heney is passionate about addressing a variety of patient needs through “the entire spectrum of the human experience,” he says. “I like to think of my primary role as an educator, and it’s how I frame working with patients. I want them to make an informed decision based on options I give them. Hopefully, this approach empowers patients to take the lead in their health.”

Jessica Heney, MD

Dr. Jessica Heney serves on the Primary Care team in Randolph and is deeply committed to providing personalized care to patients at every stage of life.

“We take care of people from cradle to grave, all ages, all genders,” she says. “What I like about family medicine is that it’s varied—from physical and well visits, to treating UTIs, to managing diabetes. Every day looks different depending on who is on the schedule. I really like getting to know patients over time, and it’s fun to see people taking care of themselves.”

Nurse Practitioner Aleena Herrick serves on the Primary Care team at Gifford Health Center at Berlin. Her philosophy of care is patient-oriented. “It’s so important to listen to what patients have to say,” she says. “Just listening is a huge part of what I do.”

Herrick, who followed in the footsteps of her grandmother, a nurse, in pursuing a career in health care, relocated to the Green Mountain State from Georgia. She was drawn to Gifford by its rural community and Vermont vibes.

Dawn Holman, MD

After spending some time growing up in New Hampshire, Dr. Holman is excited to be returning to New England. Since 2001, Dr. Holman has spent most of her career in private practice with her husband and fellow Gifford general surgeon, Aleksandr Sokolovsky. From skin lesions, lumps, bumps, colon resections, thyroid and gallbladder, Dr. Holman has performed the gamut of general surgeries. However, her specialty is breast surgery, which includes biopsies, mastectomies and special reconstructive techniques.

“I want to see the patient from the beginning of the process, get to know them, and follow them through their recovery. My husband and I are big proponents of having a one-on-one relationship with the patient.”

Mark Jewett, MD

Now semi-retired with 42 years of experience at Gifford as a primary care internal medicine physician, Dr. Jewett extends the Gifford care ethic to newer providers by example. His special interest areas include cardiology, dermatology, and infectious disease, and he promotes a healthy lifestyle as a means to long-term better health for our patients. Outside of work, Dr. Jewett enjoys hiking, skiing, biking, and running.

Jennifer Keller, MD

“I’ve been lucky to have landed a career in a specialty I love, working alongside high quality people in a beautiful part of the world,” Dr. Keller says.

After her residency, Dr. Keller’s area of focus included a fellowship in ultrasound guided regional anesthesiology. A technique which means fewer side effects, less risk of anesthetic complications, and greater patient satisfaction. However, Dr. Keller says a general anesthetic is the best choice and she enjoys the challenge and honor of being in a position to work with patients and their families. Her goals are to come up with the best anesthetic plan, provide reassurance, and to get to know the individuals and the community better.

Meghan Ketcham, APRN

As an advanced practice registered nurse, Meghan provides psychiatric care for patients of all ages. She meets with patients who may need extra help on their mental health journey, who are generally seeing a therapist already and may need medication or are considering medication options. She guides them in reaching their mental health goals.

“Our patients have a team of people who are here to support them,” Meghan, a former ER nurse, says of her collaborative approach. “I consider all systems around a patient that may impact their mental health. My approach is family-based and trauma-informed.”

Rebecca Kincaid, MD

She/Her

Dr. Rebecca Kincaid joined the Gifford Pediatrics team after spending several years practicing in Utah. Her philosophy is to not only get to know the patient, but also the whole family. Forming a bond with the family leads to a strong level of trust between Dr. Kincaid and her patients. She also enjoys working with teenagers and enjoys the challenge of getting them comfortable enough to talk about the real issues they’re experiencing.

“There’s a lot of hard stuff kids are going through these days, especially with social media. Everybody needs at least one trusted adult they can ask anything to and not feel judged or like they’re going to get in trouble. To be that extra trusted adult in their life is an honor and a privilege.”

Raymond Leonard, MD

Dr. Raymond Leonard joined the anesthesiology team at Gifford in 2018. He finds performing regional anesthesia blocks using ultrasound guidance, the ability to have a patient emerge pain-free from surgery, and taking care of pediatric patients the most rewarding aspects of his work. A father of four, Dr. Leonard shared, “When my daughter Harper was 6 days old she underwent open-heart surgery. All went well and she is healthy and needs no further care. That experience drove home to me just how vulnerable we all can be at any time in our life. Sensitivity to the vulnerabilities we all have has made me a better physician.” He completed his residency at Tufts University-Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, and is certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago in Illinois and a bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut.

Kara is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC) and certified hypnotherapist. She believes life brings varying degrees of struggle and pain, and we can all benefit from help to move through it. Kara recognizes the bravery it takes to reach out for help, with the goal to establish an environment where individuals feel comfortable reaching out and stay comfortable in the journey that follows.

In her work, Kara employs patient-centered and collaborative methods, meeting individuals where they are and creating a supportive atmosphere to explore their concerns. Together they address substance misuse, addiction, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, divorce, grief, stress, self-esteem, relationships, and life transitions. Her approach involves tailoring interventions to alleviate symptoms and empower individuals to navigate challenges with resilience and self-understanding. Kara is dedicated, and honored, to help patients identify goals and work toward achieving them in ways that resonate with their preferences and strengths.

Suzanne McCarthy, PT

Physical therapist Suzanne McCarthy, PT provides care for post-operative patients and patients of all ages. Her treatment approach is based on improving fitness, self-care and management of orthopedic and sports related injuries. She values her time with each patient, listening to their concerns and goals. She believes in performing thorough evaluations to help develop the most effective treatment plan possible. Karissa McCoy, LAT, ATC specializes in athletic training and rehab services. She really enjoys working with athletes of all ages and returning them to their active lifestyle after an injury.

She describes her treatment style as dynamic as she uses all the tools available to her to meet the needs, goals, and wants of her patients with a very diverse plan of care. She believes in going above and beyond for her patients to make sure they are getting the best quality of care so they feel well cared for during their treatment.

Her experience as an athlete and athletic trainer helps her better understand the mental aspect injuries can bring to the healing process.

Warren McDermott, DNP

Warren McDermott, DNP, has joined the Primary Care team at Gifford, seeing patients at Rochester Health Center and at the Post-Acute Care Clinic (PACC) in Randolph.

Warren, who is passionate about behavioral health and its influence on preventative medicine, says, “So much of preventative medicine really comes down to behavioral health, from dietary changes to exercise to substance use.” He describes his philosophy of care as one centered on motivational interviewing and trying to align with patients to help them make long-term behavioral changes. He cites smoking cessation as an example of when he might use this strategy of helping people find motivation while working on their terms to help them stop.

Brigid Meehan-Brese, DNP

Brigid Meehan-Brese is our Primary Care Provider at the Rochester Health Center. Working at an inpatient facility during her career has helped shape Meehan-Brese’s interest in preventative care.

“You see so many people who had they reached out at the right moment, could have prevented some of what’s going on. One of the biggest areas where we have to make improvements in people’s health and quality of life is preventative care.”

Before starting her medical career, she was a singer, musician, and composer, arranging musical scores and performing in several operas both nationally and internationally.
