Mara Bennett-Deiss, DNP, FNP-C

Mara C. Bennett-Deiss, DNP, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner who provides patient-centered primary care at Gifford’s Berlin clinic. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Winona State University, where she developed her doctoral project — Code Rainbow®—a workshop aimed to improve allyship for the LGBTQ+ community among healthcare providers.

Mara’s clinical background spans rural and urban communities across the country, including roles in medical-surgical care, pediatrics, substance use disorder and unsheltered care, sexual and reproductive health, long-term care, and community health clinics. Her care philosophy centers on empathy, transparency, and building strong relationships with patients.

Mara values the warmth and genuineness of Vermont communities and chose Gifford because “it feels like I’m arriving home.”

Outside of work, she enjoys time with her golden retriever Moose, being on the water, learning people’s stories, and staying connected to her close-knit family.
