RANDOLPH, Vt. — Gifford Health Care is pleased to welcome Julia Sobel-Faryniarz, MA, to its Behavioral Health team as a pre-licensed clinical mental health counselor.
Sobel-Faryniarz provides individual counseling for adolescents and adults experiencing a range of mental health concerns and life transitions. Her clinical interests include grief, traumatic grief and trauma. She takes a relational, humanistic and client-centered approach, adapting care to each person’s experiences, needs and goals.
“I see clients as the experts in their own lives,” Sobel-Faryniarz said. “My role is to listen, offer guidance and walk alongside them as they identify the changes they want to make.”
Sobel-Faryniarz first joined Gifford as a clinical mental health counseling intern in November 2025. During her eight-month internship, she became familiar with Gifford’s Behavioral Health practice and began building relationships with patients and colleagues. She is continuing to work with many of the patients she saw during her internship while gradually expanding her caseload.
“I value being able to care for people in the communities where I grew up,” she said. “Gifford offers the collaborative, supportive environment and holistic approach to care that I was looking for.”
Sobel-Faryniarz earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychological Science from the University of Vermont. Her undergraduate studies included a minor in religion, giving her additional perspective on the role faith and spirituality can play in people’s lives and well-being.
A central Vermont native, Sobel-Faryniarz lives in East Montpelier. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, skiing, visiting farmers markets and taking part in Vermont’s seasonal traditions.
