RANDOLPH, Vt., Aug. 3, 2020—This month Gifford welcomes Nurse Practitioner Julie Holland to its Primary Care team.
Holland sees patients at Gifford Primary Care in Randolph and Gifford Health Center at Berlin – Primary Care. She brings to Gifford 10 years of experience in health care and a passion for public health and global health, fueled by her commitment to “doing the most good for the greatest amount of people.”
She describes her approach to care as patient-centered, inclusive and holistic, “considering all areas of a patient’s life and creating shared goals based on a patient’s priorities,” she said.
A native New Englander who prefers providing care in small settings, Holland was drawn to a permanent position at Gifford after completing clinical rotations here. She also completed rotations at Appletree Bay Primary Care in Burlington, Vt.; Planned Parenthood in St. Johnsbury, Vt.; University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) Pediatric Primary Care in Burlington, Vt.; SASH in Burlington, Vt.; and in various specialty areas at UVMMC in Burlington, Vt. She previously served as a registered nurse at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, Vt., and held positions with the Vermont Department of Health and American Red Cross. She also previously worked as an emergency medical technician (EMT).
Holland earned a doctor of nursing practice degree from the University of Vermont College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Burlington, Vt.; a master’s degree in public health from the UVM College of Medicine in Burlington, Vt.; and a bachelor’s degree from the UVM College of Agriculture and Life Science in Burlington, Vt. She also completed the UVM Direct Entry Program in Nursing. Her licenses and certifications include as a registered nurse (RN), family nurse practitioner (FNP), and adult-geriatric nurse practitioner (AGNP). She is a member of the Vermont Nurse Practitioners Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Vermont Public Health Association, and National Ski Patrol.
When not at work, Holland enjoys being outdoors, skiing and hiking. She lives on a farm with sheep, cattle, and chickens.
