RANDOLPH, Vt.—Among several new providers welcomed by Gifford this summer is Family Nurse Practitioner Tracy Webster, who cares for inpatients as part of the hospitalist team at the medical center.
Webster brings to her position nearly three decades of experience in health care, including as a longtime flight nurse with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART). She describes her approach to care as collaborative, evidence-based, and holistic.
“I follow the patient’s wants and needs,” said Webster, who enjoys working with all ages—her patients range in age from newborn to 102—and all aspects of nursing, from surgery to trauma. “I present their choices and help guide decisions based on evidence.”
She was drawn to Gifford by its sense of community and after spending time with another member of Gifford’s hospitalist team, Megan O’Brien, recipient of the 2020 Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
“I’ve been a nurse since 1993,” said Webster. “This position, and getting my advanced degree, felt like a natural progression for me.”
In addition to her position at Gifford, Webster continues to work with DHART part-time. Her graduate clinical experience includes rotations at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Nashua Women’s Health Clinic in Nashua, N.H.; North Country Pediatrics in Newport, Vt.; Berlin Family Medicine, a Central Vermont Medical Center clinic in Berlin, Vt.; and in the Emergency Department at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, Vt. She previously held nursing positions at Aspen Valley Hospital in Aspen, Colo.; Copley Hospital in Morrisville, Vt.; and Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. She earned a master’s degree in the family nurse practitioner (FNP) program at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine; a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Regis University in Denver, Colo.; and an associate degree in nursing from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.; and received training as a paramedic at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. She holds several certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and as a STABLE neonatal provider.
When not at work, Webster enjoys skiing and serving as a ski instructor, golfing, mountain biking, and spending time with her family.
