RANDOLPH, Vt.- Kate Reeves decided to take a watercolor class about 22 years ago. The result has been countless paintings depicting the magical signs of the seasons. Some of those pieces are currently on display at the Gifford Gallery.
A Connecticut native, Reeves moved to Vermont in the early 1970s where she became involved in landscaping and gardening.
It eventually turned into her primary business for more than 40 years. It was during that time she took the watercolor class in Woodstock.
“Painting the outdoors helps me connect to nature and winter is perhaps my favorite season to paint,” Reeves said.
Reeves uses a technique called, ‘Snow Treatments,’ where she splatters a special type of white opaque watercolor to create the image of falling snow.
“I like the movement it creates,” Reeves said. “I hope you will see the beauty and joy of winter as I do.”
All exhibited art is for sale.
