Gifford Health Care recently named Ursula Margazano the executive director of Gifford Retirement Community and administrator of Menig Nursing Home. Margazano brings to the role 20 years of long-term care experience in Vermont.
The Gifford Retirement Community offers a variety of services as part of a continuum of care plan to support aging community members in central Vermont, to include Menig, a top nursing home in Vermont with a 2015 Five-Star Rating from Medicare; Morgan Orchards Senior Living Community; and Adult Day Services. Under Margazano’s leadership, Gifford will continue to develop and expand services and support to meet the needs of aging community members in Randolph and surrounding towns in Orange and Windsor counties.
“I was drawn to the Gifford team because of the community emphasis and opportunity to develop programs and services that best serve aging community members,” said Margazano, who in 2015 was named the Vermont Health Care Association Administrator of the Year. “It takes a village to provide exceptional health care and services throughout the continuum of life. The Gifford Retirement Community has a great group of people who work, live, and participate within our various service areas. Together we are committed to building relationships and providing service that is not only geared to an individual’s personal wants and goals but served with excellence.”
Before joining Gifford, Margazano was the executive director of Berlin Health & Rehabilitation Center and previously worked as administrator of Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing in Barre, executive director of Burlington Health & Rehabilitation, and administrator of Haven Health Center of Rutland.
Originally from Ohio, Margazano moved to upstate New York to complete her studies, earning a bachelor’s degree in health services administration from SUNY Institute of Technology, now SUNY Polytechnic Institute. She worked in human services before receiving her degree. In 1999 she moved to Vermont, where she completed an administrator-in-training internship before earning her license in nursing home administration.
