RANDOLPH, Vt., June 1, 2023—The staff and providers at Menig Nursing Home in Randolph Center recently achieved a deficiency-free survey from the Vermont Division of Licensing and Protection (DLP).
The survey report, released May 10, followed a comprehensive three-day review of the care and services provided at the 30-bed skilled nursing facility, part of Morgan Orchards Senior Living Community at Gifford.
“Thank you to everyone at Menig Nursing Home who contributed to this tremendous outcome, a clear indication of the high-quality care provided by the Menig team,” said Gifford President and CEO Dan Bennett.
Nursing homes must comply with federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements to receive payment under Medicare or Medicaid programs. To certify a facility, the state completes unannounced surveys at least annually.
At Menig, Vermont DLP surveyors evaluated processes, procedures, general operations and physical plants, as well as information submitted by Menig staff. Surveyors also interviewed staff, residents, and family members of residents.
“We are very proud of our team and the care and service we provide our residents,” said Menig Administrator Ursula Margazano, Gifford vice president for senior services. “It takes a village, from aides and nurses to our culinary and housekeeping teams, to ensure residents are cared for in a warm, compassionate environment. What our team does every day shines through in the snapshot of this survey.”
The survey report is public and readily available for review by Menig residents and visitors to the home.
Menig was recognized as a full-service nursing home by the State of Vermont in 2001. Since then, the home has received numerous state and federal awards for quality, including being named a Best Nursing Home by U.S. News & World Report. In 2018, Menig was the first nursing home in the state to receive a deficiency-free survey under new federal CMS requirements.
