I have exciting news for you concerning the work of Gifford’s newly formed committee on inclusivity. This group has been working hard to ensure Gifford is embracing our community, both as an employer and as a healthcare organization. This focus on diversity and equity continues the ongoing effort to accomplish our organization’s strategic goals.
Health equity exists when all people have a fair and just opportunity to be healthy, especially those who have experienced socioeconomic disadvantage, historical injustice, and other avoidable systemic inequalities often associated with social categories of race, gender, ethnicity, social position, sexual orientation and disability.
At Gifford, we recognize the importance of respecting an individual’s identity by creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all. In the coming weeks, we will be embarking on creating a more gender-inclusive environment for both our staff and patients. You may start seeing pronouns on email signatures and references to gender-affirming care on provider bios as well as new restroom signage.
We recognize that every Gifford employee and patient deserves to authentically express their gender identity and we strive to create an atmosphere of respect for everyone who comes through our doors. We encourage staff across the organization, who feel comfortable doing so, to include their pronouns on email signatures. Marketing is researching pronoun stickers that will fit on our Gifford badges. We will let you know when these are available to those who would like them.
Thank you,
Dan Bennett

Reminder for 2023: EMR BLACK OUT PERIODS
- CPSI/eClinical Works and MedHost Black out period: Given the huge lift of the new EMR build-the IT team will NOT be adding new functionality on our current systems. They will continue to support our systems as the function now but will not create new builds. With that being said if there is an emergent patient quality or safety adjustment that needs to occur they will support that as Safety is our priority.
- Meditech Go LIVE Blackout period for all staff: Our go live date is scheduled for July 1, 2023 -we will be requiring the industry standard blackout period two weeks before GO LIVE and two weeks after. This means all hands-on deck! ETO will not be granted for that time frame so staff should plan accordingly. I appreciate and understand the inconvenience in prime summer weeks, but in order to be successful, we are following the best practice to support the EMR training and launch. So please plan accordingly -ETO will not be granted Mid-June to Mid-July.
