Jennifer A. Bertrand has joined the team at Gifford, serving as chief financial officer.
Bertrand, who fills the role previously held by interim CFO Wayne Bennett, brings to Gifford over 20 years of experience in finance, management and operations.
“Jennifer is a great addition to our team,” said Gifford President and CEO Dan Bennett. “Gifford is in a position of financial strength, despite an incredibly challenging year, and Jennifer will help us continue to achieve our organizational goals.”
Bertrand most recently worked at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury, Vt., where she served as CFO since 2017 and previously as controller, director of finance and accounting, and senior financial analyst. Before moving to Vermont, she was a retail finance and operations manager with Ermenegildo Zegna Corporation in New York, N.Y., and Englewood, N.J. She earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in business administration and management from the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif.
For Bertrand, it was Gifford’s commitment to both patients and the community that drew her to her new role.
“A characteristic that really appealed to me was the collaborative work environment and family-oriented atmosphere. I appreciate an organization that fosters such an important attribute,” she shared while also noting the uniqueness of Gifford’s organizational structure. “Being that it’s an FQHC that owns a critical access hospital, which there are only two currently in the nation, presents a distinctive opportunity to diversify my knowledge of healthcare.”
Having worked in the private, for-profit world, Bertrand has come to appreciate about healthcare is that the work is truly meaningful.
“We are continually focused on serving our community and our patients, which frankly, is greatly rewarding.”
When not at work, she enjoys traveling with her husband Josh whether that be by boat on a lake, taking a cruise, or touring by motorcycle while enjoying the beauty of Vermont. In the evenings, she unwinds by relaxing to her Frank Sinatra vinyl collection.
