RANDOLPH, Vt.— Gifford has hired a general surgery team that is also a team outside the operating room. Dawn Holman, MD and her husband Aleksandr Sokolovsky, DO have joined Gifford after spending twenty years working together in private practice.
Dr. Sokolovsky grew up in Russia but immigrated to the U.S. with his mom and sister after graduating high school. It was while attending medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, that he first met Dr. Holman who was a resident at the time. The two have been married since 2001 and started their private practice around that same time.
“We know each other on multiple levels which make for an easy work environment,” Dr. Sokolovsky said.
“When we’re working, we understand how the other person thinks,” Dr. Holman said. “We’re each other’s best assistant.”
From skin lesions, lumps, bumps, colon resections, thyroid and gallbladder, Dr. Holman has performed the gamut of general surgeries. However, her specialty is breast surgery, which includes biopsies and special reconstructive techniques. Dr. Sokolovsky has performed various types of general surgery, with his specialty being laparoscopic hernia surgery, which is minimally invasive.
“I want to see the patient from the beginning of the process, get to know them, and follow them through their recovery,” Dr. Holman said. “My husband and I are big proponents of having a one-on-one relationship with the patient.”
Dr. Holman and Dr. Sokolovsky are currently seeing referred patients and can be contacted at (802) 728-2430.
