Gifford Health Care has received an $118,500 Efficiency Vermont incentive for incorporating energy-efficient choices while constructing the Strode Independent Living at Morgan Orchards Senior Living Community in Randolph Center. The rebate represents the initial value of money saved through the selection of the energy-saving equipment, appliances, and lighting that were installed in the 49-apartment building.
“We’ve worked with Efficiency Vermont on past Gifford projects and brought them in early with our Independent Living project,” said Director of Facilities Doug Pfohl. “Their staff was incredibly helpful—they reviewed our design before we began construction to help us make building and purchasing choices that allowed us to get the largest incentive possible.”
Gifford received a base incentive of $2,400 per apartment for meeting Efficiency Vermont’s Multifamily New Construction High Performance standards and an additional $900 per apartment for installing high-efficiency Energy Star rated appliances and efficient commercial kitchen equipment that includes a demand-controlled ventilation exhaust system, convection oven, dishwasher, and ice machine
The 30-acre Morgan Orchards Senior Living Community was designed to provide a full-spectrum of living options for area seniors and includes the 70,000 square foot independent living building, the Menig Nursing Home, and a planned assisted living facility.
