RANDOLPH, Vt.—Family Nurse Practitioner Meredith F. Welsh has joined Gifford Health Care, serving on the Primary Care team.
As a family nurse practitioner, Welsh sees patients of all ages and is passionate about improving patient experiences and health care quality. She also enjoys managing chronic diseases, such as hypertension and diabetes, and takes a patient-centered approach to care.
“Health plays into our overall wellbeing, so I want to know my patient as a whole person, including their values,” said Welsh. “I want to make sure their health care is in line with their values and what they see as important.”
“While I think about the medical piece, the science, I also think about the quality-of-life piece,” she said. “We should take both into account.”
Welsh was drawn to Gifford by its marriage of small-town life and access to high-quality health care.
“I prefer the small, community feel of Gifford to big, corporate care,” she said. “It’s great that we have that small-town feel, yet still are supported with other resources and services for our patients, like access to diagnostic imaging, for example.”
Welsh is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She previously worked as a family nurse practitioner at White River Family Practice in White River Junction, Vt.; and held student clinical positions at Wareham Pediatrics Associates in Wareham, Mass.; Reliant Medical Group in Westborough, Mass.; and Medical Pediatrics Associates in Leominster, Mass. Her registered nursing experience includes positions at Oak Knoll Health Care Center in Framingham, Mass., and Reliant Medical Group in Westborough, Mass. She earned her doctor of nursing practice from the University of Massachusetts, Graduate School of Nursing, in Worcester, Mass.; a master’s degree in public health from Boston University School of Public Health in Boston, Mass.; and her bachelor’s degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
When not at work, Welsh enjoys running, skiing, playing hockey, baking and cooking, and spending time with family.
