RANDOLPH, Vt.—Rebecca Winokur, MD, MPH, has joined Gifford Health Care, serving on the Primary Care team in Randolph.
Winokur, who most recently held a leadership role in health equity with Oracle/Cerner, describes her philosophy of care as holistic and collaborative.
“My role is to partner with my patients and work closely with the entire care team,” she said. “I believe in whole-person care, centering each patient and their unique situations, empowering them to set and meet their health and wellness goals.”
For Winokur, health equity is also top of mind. She said she’s always felt drawn to ensuring everyone has access to high-quality care in their communities.
She chose to join the team in Randolph because, she said, “Gifford puts patients first and maintains a commitment to supporting staff achieve the organization’s vision. All the right pieces came together at Gifford.”
Winokur previously practiced primary care at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt., and sports medicine in South Burlington, Vt. She then pursued a career in health technology, where she focused on tools that support health care systems deliver high-quality care to all. Throughout her career, she has been an advocate for health equity, family empowerment, and community health. She served on the Board of Directors for Wide Horizons for Children in Waltham, Mass., and her school board’s committee on educational equity. She has published and presented locally and nationally on the topic of ethical and unbiased artificial intelligence in health care.
She completed her medical degree and Family Medicine residency training at the University of Vermont Medical Center, in Burlington, Vt., where she received numerous teaching awards. She completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She was awarded a Master of Public Health from the George Washington University Milken Institute of Public Health in Washington, D.C., and served as a fellow at the United Nations Foundation in Washington, D.C. She received her bachelor’s degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
When not at work, Winokur enjoys travel, cooking, the outdoors, and spending time with her family.
