RANDOLPH, VT., April 11, 2023 — On April 17, Gifford Health Care and all of its community clinics, moved to symptom-based masking, Universal masking has been in place since the start of the COVID pandemic.
Dr. Josh White, Gifford’s Chief Medical Officer, shared, “Masking was an effective way to protect our patients and staff during the height of the COVID pandemic. As we transition to the endemic phase, COVID will be managed like all other respiratory illnesses.”
Patients and visitors entering any Gifford facility with a respiratory illness will be required to wear a mask and immunocompromised patients are encouraged to continue to mask. Masking at Menig Nursing Home will be managed based on current COVID levels.
“We are thankful to our patients, staff and visitors for responding appropriately during the COVID pandemic, working together to keep one another safe. We will continue to monitor the situation and if the expectations change, we will share that with the community,” Dr. White said.
