RANDOLPH, Vt., Sept. 19, 2023—Drawings by Barnard artist Broder White, 13, are on display through Sept. 30 in the Gifford Gallery at Gifford Medical Center. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
White, a native Vermonter, draws much of his inspiration from comic book art, he said, “where I can see other artists also bringing their imagination to life.”
“I was lucky enough to discover art as a way to express myself and convert my imagination into reality,” said White, who also credits a family member for cheering on his artwork.
“My grandmother was an art teacher, and from a very young age she encouraged me to put my thoughts onto paper,” he said. “It became a passion for me and a goal in life.”
When not creating art, White, an 8th-grader, can be found in middle school, where he plays football and lacrosse. His favorite subject—after art class, of course—is science. At home, he loves lifting weights with his parents, hunting with his dad, trail running with his dad and sister, making fried eggs with kimchi for his family, playing with his dogs Remy and Kilian, drawing, reading, and gaming with friends. White is the only member of his family actually born in Vermont—in the Birthing Center at Gifford. He loves to travel, and loves Iowa Hawkeyes football.
The Gifford Gallery is located just inside the hospital’s main entrance at 44 S. Main St., Route 12, in Randolph. Artwork may be purchased by emailing or by visiting the Gifford Development, Marketing and Public Relations Department, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 802-728-2380.
