RANDOLPH, Vt.—Paintings by Brookfield artist Jyl Emerson will be on display Nov. 27 – Jan. 2 in the Gifford Gallery at Gifford Medical Center. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Emerson, who made her career as a graphic designer and architectural illustrator, draws inspiration from a wide range of interests, including a love of horses, for her personal artwork. She and her husband moved to Vermont from Atlanta, Ga., in 2006, following a desire to spend more time outdoors and trail ride. Here they built a log cabin and a barn for their horses, and Emerson began Lone Wolf Studio.
“I have a vast interest that inspires me to paint, whether it is a soulful look from one of our horses, the way the sun plays across the Green Mountains, or watching people live with nature,” she said. “I’m basically a representational artist with a realistic style. My personality is not made to follow the norm and to specialize in just one genre.”
“Although animals are the most inspiration for my paintings, at any time you might find a still life, a landscape, a house portrait or architectural illustrations in my studio. I choose the medium that resonates best with the subject.”
