Naturopathic physician Erica Koch has joined the Medical Staff at Gifford Medical Center.
A private practice physician, Dr. Koch of Montpelier practices naturopathic medicine with a focus on women and children’s health at Integrative Health in Randolph.
She previously was a naturopathic oncology consultant at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia. Prior to that, she practiced naturopathic medicine and designed employee health promotion programs at Nike Inc. in Beaverton, Ore.
She earned her doctor of naturopathic medicine degree from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Ore., a master’s of education from Rutgers University and her bachelor’s from the University of Arizona.
She is president of the Vermont Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Her clinical interests include nutrition, herbal medicine and health education.
“Naturopathic medicine expands benefits to patients by giving them more resources for prevention, health maintenance and integrative treatment. I am encouraged by the opportunity to become actively involved in patient care and contribute to the health of our community,” said Dr. Koch of joining Gifford’s Medical Staff, a credential that allows her to participate in Medical Staff meetings, attend interdisciplinary rounds and see inpatients.
Dr. Koch and fellow naturopath Dr. Chris Hollis are important resources for inpatients seeking natural alternatives to pain management, for example, Hospital Division Medical Director and hospitalist Dr. Martin Johns notes.
