RANDOLPH, Vt.—Cheyenne Holland will join Gifford Health Care as chief financial officer on August 19.
Holland served as Gifford’s interim CFO from November 2023 through January 2024. She has over a decade of experience as a hospital CFO in Vermont, having previously held that position at Central Vermont Medical Center, and more than 20 years of progressive experience in finance and operational financial management. She most recently worked as managing director of Mazars USA’s healthcare advisory services, in which capacity she provided services to Gifford.
“Cheyenne will play a key role in guiding Gifford’s financial strategy as we navigate our changing health care environment, including the state’s pursuit of a new health care reform model, AHEAD, and financial sustainability plans under Act 167,” said Gifford President and CEO Dan Bennett. “Please join me in warmly welcoming Cheyenne to Gifford.”
Holland was drawn back to Gifford after having a positive experience as interim CFO.
“I fell in love with Gifford,” she said. “The team is talented and focused on the community and doing what’s best for their patients. I realized I missed being part of a provider organization. I’ve learned a lot through my past six years in consulting that I will use to help Gifford with ongoing, sustainable financial and operational performance improvement.”
Holland has outlined her priorities for her first 90 days on the job, including continuing to support optimization of Gifford’s new electronic health record (EHR) that was launched in October 2023.
“I will continue to build upon the foundation that was initially laid by Jenn Bertrand, former CFO, and the work Bill King and I continued as interims,” she said. “With the new EHR, there is the continued shift to optimization, including improving management reporting, financial analysis and forecasting needed for strategic planning. I am also starting at the end of the fiscal year, so gearing up for year-end and kicking off FY 2025 will be key priorities.”
Holland is a certified public accountant and certified healthcare financial professional (CHFP) by the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Before joining Mazars USA, she served for 11 years as CFO of Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, Vt., where she previously worked as controller. She also has provided business advisory consulting services as principal and owner of SilverLight Consulting, LLC, in Barre, Vt. She earned her master’s degree in management from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, N.H., and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt.
A native Vermonter, Holland continues to call the Green Mountain State home and lives in central Vermont. In her downtime, she enjoys playing with her three golden retrievers—“They are my heart!”—travel, and planning adventures with her husband, Dan, as they become empty-nesters.
